Selecting a bathroom vanity

White oak 60 inch bathroom vanity with 6 drawers, two doors and bottom shelf for additional storage

When we started our remodel project, I used Pinterest to gather and pin ideas I liked. I use Pinterest for EVERYTHING – tile ideas, vanity, light fixtures, shower doors, pocket doors, door trim paint….and on and on. You can visit my bathroom remodel pinterest board here. As I kept pinning and pinning, a trend emerged. I wanted a bathroom that was clean and modern with a mix of warm wood, white black and a splash of spa. The vanity was the toughest part of the planning process.

Our first step was to measure our small and awkward size bathroom (checkout our photos here). We had a 48″ vanity but we could go up to as large as 60″ bathroom vanity. There’s no storage in the bathroom – literally none. While there’s a closet, it only fits the stackable washer and dryer. And the only other storage is an unusable, very deep, nook shelving right next to the toilet and that was going to be demolished to make our shower bigger. So I was on a mission for a vanity that maximized storage.

I knew that I needed drawers. Our current bathroom vanity had two drawers on each side and one door in the center. We also need a place to store our towels underneath. I searched for quite a while trying to find the right combination of storage for our very small based. I finally found a vanity from Room and Board that checked every box. It was truly the ONLY vanity that checked all the boxes, except affordability. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay but I knew storage was so critical. I bit the bullet and figured I’d find the savings somewhere else.

Another vanity I considered was this OVE Decors vanity with open shelf bottom. They describe it as rustic oak but I think it looks more modern, a la Restoration Hardware. It has black handles on the drawers as well as a shelf underneath to hold hand and bath towels or other bathroom items in woven baskets if that’s your style.

We purchased a bathroom vanity without a top so we could customize the top with the color scheme we wanted. We visited a local dealer and found Carrera Cloudy a beautiful white quartz with light green swirls throughout. When it was installed it was even better and I couldn’t believe how well it matched he materials we had already picked out. It’s our most favorite part of the bathroom.

Our backsplash was a seaglass green or as some might describe a coke bottle green color. We found it at home depot but here’s a similar version from Amazon
